There will be a little extra razzmatazz like never before when the Cooma Cats run on to the field against Murrumbidgee in Canberra on July 31 thanks to a unique relationship between the club and the Sirens Cheerleading Squad.
The Sirens Cheerleaders will adopt the name the Cooma Pussycats for the day and supports the boys with a quality display of American-styled cheerleading throughout the game.
Sirens manager and former North Queensland Cowboys cheerleader Rianna Macdougall said the squad was looking forward to donning the blue and white of the Cooma Cats and getting behind the club.
“I have just come to Canberra and established the Canberra Sirens squad, so having the opportunity to display our sport in support of a great team like the Cooma Cats is something we are really keen and happy to do,’ Rianna said.
Rianna has been coaching competitive cheerleading squads for many years, having originally established Sirens in Townsville. She has recently returned from the United States where she competed with Team Australia, which finished fourth in the world championships.
“We’ll be making sure the Cats get a great cheer as they run on to the field, and then lead Cats’ supporters throughout the game,” Rianna said.
Sirens is a competitive cheerleading squad with squads in Townsville and Canberra. Sirens compete for fun (and glory) in Pom, Cheer and Stunt Group divisions at cheerleading competitions!
