The Snowy SuperCats, the Cats’ Under 14 AFL team, got their 2010 season off to a great start with a big win over Ainslie in Canberra on Saturday 6-14-50 to 3-4-22.
Continuing from where the left off in their inaugural year last year, the SuperCats played hard footy and quickly took control over their Canberra opposition.
SuperCats coach Marty Currie praised his charges for the approach to the game.
“The kids all played for each other and it was really pleasing to see how they answered every challenge,” Marty said.
“All team members contributed to the win, and there’s no reason why we can’t have a successful season this year,” he said.
Among the SuperCats best on Saturday were Brandon Williams at centre-half-forward, Toby Walton who rucked all day against a much taller opponent, and Jake McGraw in the centre. Meanwhile main goal kickers were Dyna Camwell who kicked the team;s first goal for 2010, and Jaydon Stocton who kicked two.
“It was a great game and everyone should be proud of how the kids all played,” Marty said.
Another feature of the game was the performances of first-year players Cooper Stevenson from Jindabyne and Kyle Hubert from Cooma.
Well done Snowy SuperCats, you're all AWESOME.....
