Cats go live on air

In their latest initiative to bring AFL to more people across the Snowy Mountains and the Monaro, the Cooma Cats Football Club launches its new radio program this Sunday evening (25 April) on Community Radio 2MNO.

'Talking Cats' will be the region's only dedicated AFL radio program and is part of an energetic strategy by the Cats to grow support for the game in the area.

Cats' Club President Dave Paterson said 'Talking Cats' was an exciting new venture for the club.

"In partnership with the great people at Community Radio 2MNO, we will bring local AFL footy news and views to footy fans old and new across the region," Dave said.

"Our club is all about being part of the community, and 'Talking Cats' is another way we can keep the community up to date with what we're doing in 2010," he said. “The Cats are a community and family focused club, one that everyone can be proud of.”

'Talking Cats' will be hosted by Cats' publicity officer Rob Barnes and go to air on Sunday evenings at 7pm.

"The aim of the show is not just to update our supporters about how the Cats are going on the field each week, but to also talk about the role of AFL footy in the community and its contribution to the region since the club's establishment in 1974 and into the future," Rob said.

'Talking Cats' will have a number of regular segments in each program, including a feature interview with local AFL identities from the past and present, a round-up of club news and events, and of course detailed analysis of the Cats' on-field performances.

Cats' President Dave Paterson invited anyone with a connection or interest in AFL to tune in and enjoy the program, and join the Cats' on their invigorated journey to bring AFL to the region.

'Talking Cats' on 2MNO at 7pm Sunday evenings: 90.5FM in Cooma; 93.3FM on the Monaro; 93.9FM in Jindabyne and 103.7FM in Bombala.
